The Great Global Warming Swindle

The climate is obviously warming, but what is the cause? Before you think one more thought on global warming, watch this show. This documentary was shown March 8th on Channel 4 in the U.K. (A publicly owned broadcaster). It is very well done and it totally destroys Al Gore's propaganda film on Global Warming, "An Inconvenient Truth." I put more stock in what MIT profs and Climatologist Phds. are saying than what Al Gore says.

Daily Show: Katy TX

I lived about ten minutes from this town which is a western suburb of Houston. Many of my coworkers at BP lived there. I guess I will miss out on the pig racing...see this video clip.

The Bow: Second tallest in Canada

EnCana Corporation filed a development permit application with the City of Calgary for the construction of The Bow, Calgary's newest office tower. EnCana, along with its architectural team led by Foster + Partners, unveiled the design for the spectacular 59-storey glass and steel office high-rise to be built in the heart of downtown Calgary. Configured in the shape of a bow, the 1.7 million square foot tower is a striking creation that provides office occupants an expansive view of the surrounding environment - Rocky Mountains and the Bow River Valley to the west, the Canadian Prairies and Bow River to the east. Located between 5th and 7th Avenues between Centre and 1st Street S.E., the new building design features three interior garden atriums up the west face of the structure. EnCana hopes to receive development permit approval from the City of Calgary in the spring of 2007, and construction is expected to start shortly thereafter. EnCana plans to start occupying the building in the third quarter of 2010, with final occupancy in 2011. (More...)

Kim & Yan's Wedding

I was just flipping through my blog and realized that in the heat of my return to Canada trip blogging I forgot to post about my sister getting marrried. Inexcusable, I know. But that's usually what I am. They were married on a beach in Mexico last fall. Congrats Kim and Yan.

Trip to Durango

I was on a field trip this week to Durango, CO to tour BP's gas operation in the North San Juan basin.

United through Denver lost our bags both going and coming and were in general pretty useless. I thought Air Canada was the worst but apparently not (they both are part of the "Star" alliance so maybe it's a common strategic goal to treat their customers like crap). I was never more molested at a TSA checkpoint than in the little town of Durango, not even SF airport could match these guys. My shoes set off their little sniffer test alarm so they just tried again until it didn't go off anymore because it seemed they didn't know an alternative measure. I am so tired of having to explain my leg "apparatus" to some rent-a-cop as he feels every kink and strap. Nuff said on that.

The town of Durango was nice as was the hotel, and the meetings and tours were very informative. I went from being 5 feet from a screaming jet engine in a gas processing plant (ear plugs a must) to touring a whisper quiet compressor facility that couldn't be more than 50 db. outside. And thanks to my helpful team mates I was able to see some pretty inaccessible stuff. However, you will not see a picture of me in my fire-retardant space suit.
